| Welcome to the College of Nursing at Grand Canyon University. The College of Nursing offers a wide range of professional nurse education programs that are housed within Christian values and ethical principles. These programs include: • A traditional baccalaureate (BSN) level professional registered nurse (RN) program, aimed at new students interested in becoming a nurse; • A fast track baccalaureate level professional registered nurse program, tailored for students with an existing baccalaureate degree in another subject or 90 + credit hours of college coursework; • A RN to BSN program, targeted toward registered nurses who have completed an associate degree or diploma program in professional nursing; • A RN to MS program, targets toward professional registered nurses who have completed an associate or diploma program in nursing. These students are not awarded a BSN; • The Master of Science - Nursing (MS-N) program focuses on preparing nurses for an advanced professional role of family nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nursing leader, or nurse educator. • All RN-BSN and MS programs are offered on ground using a web-enhanced format. In addition RN to BSN program and the Master of Science programs in nursing leadership and nursing education are also offered online. Coursework is customized for both young and adult learners as well as those with basic and advanced computer skills. Details of the programs are available on this web site and we welcome you to explore them all! I commend you on your interest in the nursing profession. In survey after survey, the nation's registered nurses are held in high esteem by the public, our patients and our colleagues in healthcare. We face the most devastating shortage of registered nurses in the history of our country and by all projections we will endure this shortage for many years. This offers an opportunity to those with the talent, commitment and intelligence to invest in a life long career of caring. I challenge you to consider a career that will span a wide range of practice settings, provide a healthy income and stretch you beyond your greatest expectations and desires! Anne McNamara, RN, PhD.
