Dr. K. Mark Wooden holds a Ph.D. in Comparative and Integrated Physiology and is currently the Dean of the College of Health Science at Grand Canyon University. He has over 12 years experience teaching healthcare professionals; extensive knowledge related to curricular development and design; and leadership skills in training faculty members to provide quality, student-focused, instruction. Dr. Wooden is an active speaker concerning issues such as healthcare workforce issues and is a strong promoter of science in elementary and secondary education. He is a member of numerous professional organizations and serves the community through activities such as: sitting on the boards of the Laboratory Sciences Advisory Council and the Arizona Chapter of the Health Occupations Students of America; acting as a presentation facilitator and judge for the American Physiology Society and being a cubmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. Dr. Wooden joined Grand Canyon University in 2004 because of the development and growth opportunities that exist in a private institution as they relate to preparing healthcare professionals. In the short time that he has been in this position, he has developed numerous programs focused on providing entry and advancement opportunities in many healthcare disciplines. Dr Wooden sees this as his dream job and is excited for the opportunity to develop a dynamic academic environment that fills such an important niche. | | |
