Dr Kirk Bowden is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC), he is certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) as a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), and as Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) Dr Bowden is the Director of the Counseling and Addiction Studies Program at Grand Canyon University, the Faculty Chair of the Department of Chemical Dependency Counseling at Rio Salado College, a Counseling Curriculum Consultant for the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, a member of SAMHSA's Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Network Advisory Group, a Subject Matter Expert for McGraw-Hill, an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Teaching Addictions, and the President of the International Coalition for Addiction Studies Education (INCASE) the professional association for college and university professors that specialize in addiction education and research.
Dr. Bowden previously served on the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (two terms as chair of counseling), on two SAMHSA Workforce Development Committees, as a Consultant for the Pacific Southwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center at the University of Arizona Applied Behavioral Health Policy Division, a Contract Researcher for CDC/NIOSH Health Communication Research Branch U.S Department of Health and Human Services, as a Member of Counselor Magazine’s Editorial Review Committee, and as a Graduate Psychology/Counseling Adjunct Faculty Member at Argosy, Ottawa and Northcentral Universities.
Dr Bowden’s has developed and written 17 internet college courses on the subject of Addiction of Counseling. Prior to his employment as an addiction counseling educator he was a counselor and clinical supervisor at Thunderbird Samaritan Medical Center. | | |
