John Gray is the Director of the Medical Imaging Sciences (MIS) Program at Grand Canyon University (GCU). The MIS program was created and is being developed by Mr. Gray who has over 40 years of experience in radiologic technology as a practitioner, manager, educator and regulator.
Mr. Gray has served as committee chairman or member for the national professional organizations of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, The Arizona State Society of Radiologic Technologists and the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors. As chairman or member of the various committees, he contributed to the development of the national certification examination for limited scope technologists in radiography and the development of the advanced practice technologist curriculum for radiologic assistants. While serving with the ASRT Mr. Gray helped develop model legislation used by various states seeking licensure laws for practitioners of the radiologic sciences.
Since arriving at GCU June 2007, Mr. Gray has been elected to the position of President Elect and appointed Chairman of the Collegiate Affairs Committee of the Arizona State Society of Radiologic Technologists. He has also been selected to attend the ASRT Leadership Academy for Educators and serves as a panelist for the ASRT national publication, The Scanner.
As director of the Arizona Board of Radiologic Technologists, the Board grew from 1500 licensees to over 8,000 while Mr. Gray oversaw the creation of statutes and rules resulting in the licensing of mammography, nuclear medicine and limited scope technologists.
Mr. Gray was assistant professor of Radiologic Technology at Northern Arizona University. He has also been active locally by serving on several committees and task forces of the Maricopa County Community College District, and the Arizona Healthcare and Hospital Association. Mr. Gray has served as adjunct faculty for Rio Salado College for five years. | | |
